Christmas is over!
I am sorry to admit that I have lost that loving feeling for Christmas this year.I think that the idea of buying presents has really lost favor with me. Do people buy the presents because they love the person? Do they feel like they have to purchase presents? Even for people they are not on an intimate level with? I asked my children not to buy me anything because there was nothing that I really needed or wanted. Does this mean I'm a scrooge? I did buy presents for my family and friends.
It took me awhile before I decorated the Christmas tree. After I had the tree up I think a little of the spirit hit me, but not enough to have a big Christmas party.
My children think of the party as a family tradition so I compromised and had a small dinner party. I really enjoyed having people who we are close to over. It meant alot more to me then have a large group over.
Christmas seems like it is put upon you so fast. As soon as Halloween is over you hear Christmas music.
The thing I will remember most about this Holiday is the hiking trip in the mountains of Georgia with my daughters. It was so beautiful to be out in nature. To just take it easy and not rush about. I'm hoping before Christmas break is over we can go again.

IF: Wedding
Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall become one flesh.
Whenever I think of a wedding I think of two becoming one. When a man and a woman do join in marriage to become one you must give some of yourself away.
My husband and I will be celebrating 25 years of marriage in October.

IF: Signs
This is a weird one and not very artsy, but when I think of signs I think of my grandparents. They believed in "roots". These are signs my grandmother told me. If your left hand was itching you would receive money. If it was your right hand you would receive a letter. When your eye was jumping something bad was going to happen and when you see a red bird you would have a visit from someone you haven't seen for a while. Maybe when I'm better I could do it some justice.

Phenomenal Woman I want to be!
I haven't been doing any art work lately. I did do a journal entry for my flickr, but it was so personal I didn't feel confortable sharing it with everyone. Maybe when my life is no longer on hold I can be more open. When I am going through life's valleys I am ready to get back to the peak. Where everything is going according to plan. But for a while now things are not going to plan.
I feel like I'm in a bottle. I can't move around I can think outside of my limits. I'm not in a good place to be creative. So last night I did do to pictures, one for Illustration Friday the word was citrus. The second picture was of a African American woman. I called her the "Phenomenal Woman" for some reason Maya Angelo's words were in my mind as I painted her. I think that its a little better than some of my other acrylic skin tones. I still need lots of practice. When things turn around I hope I can take an art class. I really wish it would happen before June. Oh well, stay positive, keep holding on.
The one thing that I am keeping up dispite my lack of motivation is reading. Currently I'm trying to get thru the DaVinci Code. I only chose to read it because I wanted to see what the hub-bub was about. I can't get into it, but my goal is to finish each book that I have selected on my 50 Book Challenge.

EDM # 28 - Stainless Steel Stoves
EDM # 39 - Toothbrush
My new toothbrush still in the original box :) Do you remember changing your toothbrush so much when you were little? (for those over 35) I can't remember how many times I got a new one growing up. Now when the blue fades on the bristles it is time to say good bye.
Do you ever wonder why some people don't throw away their old toothbrushes. They have a cup full of frayed brushes. What's so hard about throwing them away. If you want to reuse them place them somewhere else like under your sink or in your shoe cleaning supplies box.
If you would like to read a good book on on taking care of your teeth I recommend Tooth Fitness by Thomas McGuire,DDS.
Do you know that more women have dreams of their teeth falling out then men. Once I had a dream that I was standing in front of the bathroom mirror and I pulled out one of my teeth then one by one they started to fall out. I was so happy it was a dream!

Discouraged?
Have you ever been excited, anxious, or confident about something that was going to happen in your life and in a brief moment everything changes. It takes a direction you did not anticipate. How do you recover and pull yourself back up?
Pray and speak encouraging words to yourself. You must not let this set you back. Think positively! Our minds will take us away into a deep despair. Be of good courage and commit thy way unto the Lord. God is with you and he will see you through. How long will that take? No one knows, just don't give up.

IF - Green
2nd Attempt
Because of a Tornado warning we got home from Bible study a little earlier. So I attempted my bug on the windshield again. My husband didn't get it. I forgot the gear shift on this picture.
1st Attempt
Attempting to come up with something for IF on green. I don't like the colors of the inside of van. Can you see the giant bug splat on the window? If I get time I'll try it again.

EDM # 1: My Shoes
I recently read an article about what do your shoes say about you. All of the women highlighted had jobs where they could wear really nice shoes. My job requires that I
wear practical shoes. My boots are as flashy as I get and with spring fast approaching it's time to put them away. The sexy looking open toe shoe is not mine but the inner me. I don't wear my toes out when I'm working at school. So I guess if I was in that article they would say, "she's boring". I do however have some nice
shoes. I will draw them next time.
