Portrait Request

One of my students requested that I do a portrait of her, so did a more detailed portrait instead of one of my quick illustrations. I worked on this for a month.

Fourborne has been Gardening

Recently I wrote a post about gardening, which inspired me to get back out there in the dirt. The new house we moved into doesn't have the yard space as my old house, but I like it. Hostas had already been planted in backyard, however I had to move some of them, also I split some of them so I would have more. I made a little green house but I want a real one made with recycled windows. I only have two windows but I hope to keep collecting until I have enough to do what I want. I placed two new frogs in my garden and two bird houses. Although one is not a real bird house it's a cabinet that I am using to store some of my gardening tools. I found a bench while I was cleaning the yard. I hope to repair it. The arms are cast iron. I made a path with some tiles I found behind the shed. A pathway always seems enchanting.

Oil Pastels and Gelatos

Finally I made something with oil pastels and gelatos that might look like art. I never quite got the hang of using oil pastels, but as in the words of the Space Commander from Galaxy Quest "Never give up, Never surrender!" For those of you who don't know, I am a self taught artist. I haven't taken any classes, not even online. Although I sometimes think about it, but I am enjoying teaching myself. I purchased the oil pastels 2 years ago and gave up, but pulled them out when I recently brought this gelatos kit from Michael's.

Making Art with Paper 53 and iPad 2

Froggy

I've been enjoying my Paper 53 app, I even purchase the Pencil. Although it doesn't connect by bluetooth to my iPad 2 it still works as a stylus. I can also use it with my husbands iPad mini. I didn't have to purchase the painting tools again because they are free if you have the pencil.

Vintage Dr. Martins's Radiant Concentrated Water Color Set

My husband loves to go to estate sales. I usually tag along. Today we went to a sale at a famous local artist house. There were lots of unsigned art, one of which I really wanted but thought it was overpriced to be unsigned. However they did have her Dr. Martin water color set for sale, it was marked $10 but I purchased it for $5. I was so excited, all of the colors are still good. When people saw me with it, they asked what is it? One lady thought it was spices.
