Finished Sketchbook #4

Here are a few of the last sketches I did so I can start on my new ones. I still have other sketchbooks that aren't complete, but they are specific themes. Hopefully I will come back later and add color

IF: New

Illustration Friday-New

After I turned 40  I learned something new. I took violin lessons for two years. I had always wanted to learn to play an instrument. I loved learning to play. This illustration commemorates that memory. You never should let yourself get too old to try new things.

Hurry up - already!

So I am trying to hurry up and finish old sketchbook, before starting new one. It's so hard to resist. This is what I drew on page 99. It needs color! 6 more pages to go.

IF: Miss Whiskers - A Real Cat Lady

I am trying to jump back from my long absence from Illustration Friday. The prompt word was whiskers. I had this old drawing in my sketchbook, so I added color.

Create Something - Post Something

I feel as though life won't let me off the treadmill. Everything is going so fast and I just don't have time. So tonight I jumped off and picked up my red watercolor. This is what I created. LADIES IN RED.

CED: Trees

Guidance Office
I've been stalking CED, but unable to submit anything because I have been so busy. However since it is the last day of October I did want to show off my trees I made for school bulletin board. I made a non-traditional fall tree for Guidance Office and a traditional tree for the Clinic, which is my office. The last is a watercolor I painted a while back, but I love it.

Pain and Lessons

If you cannot love the pain - You can at least love the lessons it teaches. I found this saying in book I read called Gargoyle.

Where Have I Been?

Where have I been? Good Question! Summer came and took me away, but now I am back. As with most of my summers I think I will have all of this time for creativity since I have the summer off, but I was swept away into so many other things that I created nothing of beauty, a few things I did like but nothing to make me feel accomplished.
What I did do was buy myself a "One Sketch a Day" visual journal. I was not always faithful to it, but I did try. Here are some of the sketches I made.  I'm Not happy with the quality of paper. My colors bleed through.

CED: Opposites

CED - Opposites
The theme for Creative Everyday this month is opposites. I always think about how children can come from the same parents and yet are so opposite from each other. I've been away for a while life went into hyperdrive and I just couldn't carve out a slice for my art. I'm hoping to start creating again.

Contemplating the Wolf

Red Riding Hood

I loved reading fairy tales growing up. Here is my modern day version. Red Riding Hood is planning to outfox the wolf.
I really haven't had much time for my art. I miss creating but life just gets too busy.

If Ye Then Be Risen

My favorite chapter of the New Testament.     I drew this is my sketchbook and written as much as I could on the face. To remind me to look at myself first.
If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. 2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.4 When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.5 Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:
6 For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:7 In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them.8 But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.9 Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;
10 And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:11 Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all.12 Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;13 Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.14 And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.18 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord.19 Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them.20 Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord.
21 Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged.22 Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God;23 And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;24 Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.25 But he that doeth wrong shall receive for the wrong which he hath done: and there is no respect of persons.

CED: One Red Balloon

Creative Everyday Challenge: One

Looking @ Others Work

I've been away because I lost confidence in my work. Although I still love my art, I let myself get drawn into comparing myself with other artist. This is a no-no in Christianity and as I have learned recently with my art.( 1 Cornthians 10:12 but they measuring themselves by themseves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.) So I picked up my pen because it was slow at work and doodle. My goal was not to worry about mistakes but to just draw something and fill in the whole page. Here are my doodles:
Not my very best but its a jump start for me to get busy.
