Visions Of My Childhood: Sketchbook Giant

Here's a page from my Sketchbook Giant. It's where I just go with the flow and paint with no thought in mind. No perfectionism allowed. I have a long way to go to fill up this sketchbook. Click here to see my  Favorite Painting from this sketchbook. It the first one with the woman in Turquoise.

Daily Face: August 27th & 28th

Busy, busy me, trying not to let myself get behind. My days have been so full. This weekend has been booked Friday with party for friend & sister in Christ who received her Master's Degree, Saturday another friend & sister in Christ speaking at Ladies Day in Auburn, Ala. and then Sunday which is the Lord's Day.

Daily Face: August 26th

Wednesday was so busy that I didn't get to post my portrait. My morning started with a 8 am class, then I went to work, then set up at 6 pm for our final game night with our Bible Class, which ended in a fellowship of food, cake & ice cream. When I finally got home at 9:45 pm my right eyeball was aching.  I took  some Aleve and went to bed.

America Runs through My Every Being

Daily Face: August 25th & Some Back Log

Work Calendar
I've done a pretty good job at keeping up with my work desk calendar illustrating students, but since I've tried to do it at home also it has not been working out for me so I'm behind in my sixth grade portraits. I had a little time before I left for work this morning and thought I would try to catch up.

Daily Face: August 24th

I would say that today was a good day. Trying to stay on top of my homework however is not fun. I hope I can remember some of this stuff when test time comes.

Simplicity : Sketchbook #3

I haven't done a illustration like this in a long time. I love black and white illustration with just a few colors. At first I thought that I was just afraid of color, but now I know that it is the simplicity that appeals to me. Below I posted some of my old drawings. Inspiration photo by Claudia Ferrari

Daily face: August 21

I pushed myself all day today. Started with an 8 am meeting and now I'm closing the end of the day with a portrait. Throughout the day I wanted to throw in the towel and just pretend I was too sick to work, go to a decluttering job,or even have a late dinner date with my husband. But, I persevered!

Daily Face: August 19th

Today was a very busy day. Yet I survived. I accomplished all that I needed and even got to take a nap before going to Bible Study and working with kids in our Summer Series program.
The topic was My Relationship with My Enemies. I think it was a really good class.

Daily Face: August 12th

Today worked seemed as though we didn't have a summer break. It was busy as usual. On top of that I'm so full of emotions. My baby will be officially off to college tomorrow. I didn't think I would feel this sad, but I am embracing the moment. I signed up for classes at the Technical College.

Rain Rain Go Away - Sketchbook #3

In life we only want the beautiful, sun-shiny days. We would rather not have long rainy days. Oh sure we don't mind a few hours of rain, but let it rain for a week. Everyone will start to complain.
This is how we are in life also, a few hardships and we are ready to complain. But if we endure we will see the rainbow. So be in the moment. Let it rain, it will pass.

Studio Calendar

I think I had a very productive day at work. While the students are adjusting to being back in school its the best time for me to get everything organized. In a couple of weeks everyone will be sick and need to go home.

Sketchbook #3: Enjoying Friendship

There's nothing like enjoying friendship, especially when your friend accepts you as you are.
I've been drawing in my sketchbook I call number three. This is the first picture that I've shared in a while. In a previous post I mentioned completing sketchbooks, I'm still working on this one but Sketchbook #4 is completed, go figure.

Daily Face: August 7 - Two Calendars

So I have officially finished one week of work. I took my calendar back to my school office and I missed seeing it on my studio desk. So I found an old 2006 calendar to keep on my studio desk. If time allows I can draw two portraits or if I don't have time at my school office, I can use my studio calendar to ensure that I don't get behind drawing my daily face. The 2006 calendar will only have incoming 6th graders.

Daily Face: August 6

It's amazing how many illustrations you have if you draw one each day. I look at all of my daily faces and say "wow" I did all of those. If I could just do a painting a day like that. Which I have not painted anything in a long while. I've been thinking about moving my studio space to one of our empty bedrooms. Maybe if I had more space again I would be inspired. I wonder why it makes you feel guilty to take one of your children's bedroom and turn it into your own personal space. They have moved out, you still have an extra bedroom that will be empty, and if you need an extra bed you have a sofa sleeper in the family room. Go figure! I guess I'll get over it.

Daily face: August 5 & Houseplants

Today is our school registration day.
You know as much as I love gardening I have only 3 real houseplants. They are orchids, all of my other plants are artificial. I do like to put dried flowers in vases, cups, and bowls.

Daily Face: Aug 4 Happy Birthday to Me!

Today is my birthday! I wanted to make sure that I had the best day ever even if it meant being in an In-Service meeting for a couple of hours, then setting up for school registration and waiting in a long line to get my car tags. So I decided to be a child again, I wore a birthday hat all day. Some people looked at me as though I was crazy, others got it and wished me a Happy Birthday!
