Daily Face: April 4th and Sketchbooks

 My goal this year is to try and complete some of my sketchbooks. One of favorite artist Adebanji Alade states that when you start a sketchbook you should have a completion date set so it would encourage you to draw everyday. So here is a picture of the sketchbooks that I have started and have not completed, this picture does not include my Froggy Sketchbook. So this picture does not look encouraging. Now let's see what sketchbooks I have finished.

Blue Girl Watercolor

I decided that since I did a boy in blue, that I should do a girl also.

CED: Books - The City Mouse

My husband purchased this book "Come Follow Me" Poems for the very young. He was going to sell it on Amazon before I got my hands on it. I thought it had some good prompts to draw. One of my favorites as a little girl was The City and Country Mouse. So her are some attempts, that need a lot of tweaking.

Blue Boy Watercolor

Blue is one of my favorite colors, in fact Blue was my maiden last name. I decided to do a watercolor and keep it simple.

Creative Every Day: Books

The CED theme for this month is books. I attempted a painting of the book jacket. It's called Pink and Say by Patricia Polacco. It is a story of compassion and hatred. It made my heart sad. I pray that we could learn to love as God intended.

CED: Books- Art cover love

I love books and I challenge myself every year to try to read more books. This year my goal is 80 books. I like to include a variety of books including children's books. My husband said, "that is not a book."  "I told him that it is because you do have to read it." Although all my children are grown-up I still like the children's area. I usually pick books because of the art work, then the story. I picked up Maddy Kettle just for that reason. I love the art work. I usually check out the bio of the illustrator. Eric Orchard is from Canada and I found it interesting that he talks about his depression. I copied a small portion of his book cover featuring Maddy.

Back in the Flow: Sketchbook One

I struggle to complete my sketchbooks. Lately I've been obsess trying to complete my "Sketchbook One." My goal is to get it finished so that I can move on to some new sketchbooks I wanted to try with the no-bleed paper. Here are two of my sketches.

Create Something - Post Something

I feel as though life won't let me off the treadmill. Everything is going so fast and I just don't have time. So tonight I jumped off and picked up my red watercolor. This is what I created. LADIES IN RED.

CED: Trees

Guidance Office

 I've been stalking CED, but unable to submit anything because I have been so busy. However since it is the last day of October I did want to show off my trees I made for school bulletin board. I made a non-traditional fall tree for Guidance Office and a traditional tree for the Clinic, which is my office. The last is a watercolor I painted a while back, but I love it.

Tuesdays Face

The Face Series

I didn't use my usual pattern for The Face. I drew it free hand and used watercolor, paint, and computer to color this one. I don't know if the exaggerated neck looks right with this technique.

Inspire Me Thursday: Believe



God will always make a way where there is no way.

 I didn't finish my current inspiration this morning because I was trying to fix my computer so  I had to use a previous inspiration. It helps me to believe because there were times in my life that I didn't see a way.

More water color painting. Yes that is a big insect on her head. I'm embracing painting into my sketchbook with watercolor and not sticking to any color rules just letting go.

WHAT to WEAR

This what I wore to work on Monday, Jan. 30th. It looks alot better on paper. My brown denim jeans are fading, the top which I just purchase is tighter than what I would like (this is what happens when you don't try it on in store). My peachy orange sweater and my Clark clogs were just right.

Watercolor - O what fun!

I'm having fun letting go and adding color directly into my sketchbook. I pulled out my watercolors and painted my drawing.

AEDM: Day 17, 18, & 19 That Blue Girl

I have been so busy preparing for my daughters 15th  birthday celebration that at the end of the day when I laid down to take a quick nap I just didn't have enough steam to get back up. Well now its over and I can get back to art.

I'm posting 3 drawings to make up for the days I miss. They are a continuation of my Blue Girl series. As I was doing these it made me think back to watching the Mary Tyler More Show and That Girl in the 70's. I guess it's the clothing. I wish I had time to put detail in the background of my drawings.

One Down time for a New One

So I have completed my little moleskin and now it is time for a new one. I purchased the hardcover watercolor moleskin this time because I love the weight of the paper. I also thought that I would try to add color, but I'm so afraid of adding color to my original drawings in my sketchbooks. I usually make a copy on my printer then add color. Lets hope I can get over my fear.

My goal is to post each picture. Hopefully I can be faithful to my new challenge.

IF: Bottled

My submission for Illustration Friday "bottled." A little watercolor. I tried just to keep Simple Green as my household cleaner but I can't seem to let go of the Chlorox and Lysol.
