Daily Face: April 9th

I know today is not the 9th but yesterday was super busy at work and at home. No time for art other than my student portrait which did not get posted yesterday. I had to go to commissary after I got off of work, when I got home I had to help my daughter with her language project, which took up my evening. You would think your senior year would be easier the closer you get to graduation, but it gets more intense. Now she has to do another defense and present portfolio.
I finished the guidance office bulletin board, it's similar to the one I did in my office except I stapled the petals down.

Daily face: April 8 and Serafina

Today was hectic and slow at the same time. I worked a illustration for 2 hours last night hoping to post it today but it it looked horrible, so I have to keep working on it.
I finally finished a book called Serafinas' Promise by Anne E. Burg. I gave this book 5 stars because there are words that struck my heart and touched my life where I am at currently. That's what I love about reading, when a writer can touch your emotions with words. I am Serafina,  that's what reading this book made me feel. Here are the words from Julie Marie to Serafina about being jealous "Manman says everyone has their own path. And everyone's path has both flowers and thorns."

I am officially at 20 books read for the year. You can follow my Goodreads challenge. I plan on reading 80 books this year.

Blue and White Light Idea and Using Your Good Stuff

I love Blue and White dishware. I saw This light fixture at a Thrift Mall. What a good idea if you collect dishware and your cabinets can't hold any more stuff without looking clutter. Just thought I would share. Here are few photos of my collection. Yes, I actually use them. I could never understand my grandmother who never used her nice things. I always tell everyone if you purchased it use it and enjoy it.

Daily Face: Student Portrait

From the moment I stepped into my office today I was busy. Everyone wanted to be sick today. I even left late, so I had no time to draw on my calendar. I did this illustration at home so a day would not go by that I didn't do a portrait. His eyes are wacky though.

Daily Face: April 6th and No CED

Sunday Face & What to Wear

Today is the Lord's Day. My family and I always go to Morning and Evening Service on Sundays. This is a page from my Sunday Journal Page. I was a little drowsy I must admit. I'm attempting to start my What to Wear illustrations, let' see how long I can last this time. I think once a week should be enough.

Daily Face: April 4th and Sketchbooks

My goal this year is to try and complete some of my sketchbooks. One of favorite artist Adebanji Alade states that when you start a sketchbook you should have a completion date set so it would encourage you to draw everyday. So here is a picture of the sketchbooks that I have started and have not completed, this picture does not include my Froggy Sketchbook. So this picture does not look encouraging. Now let's see what sketchbooks I have finished.

Daily Face: April 3rd

I had a very busy day. Woke up at 5 a.m.  and ran with my husband. I thought I was running fast, but I wasn't. Oh well at least I finished. I went to Estate Sale @ 9 a.m. and purchased vintage leather gloves. I love to wear gloves, especially on Sundays. One pair was blue and the other brown, now I just have to wait until next winter to wear them (if it's the Lords will).  I went to work and after work went and helped client get organized.

I have gardening on the brain. I love this book called Kitchen Gardening for Beginners. My  display in my office also shows what I am thinking.

Blue Girl Watercolor

I decided that since I did a boy in blue, that I should do a girl also.

Daily Face: April 2nd

Today was a good day. Went to work, decorated my office for spring, got to leave early, came home played in the dirt, went to B&N with my family look at garden books, got paid for my side job as a Professional Organizer, went to mandatory meeting for seniors, daughter received cap and gown. God has blessed me with a good day. I am thankful for all that I have.

Painting in My Sketchbook Giant

This is a painting from my giant mix media sketchbook. I generally just paint it. I have no plans when I start with a blank page. It's a good creative exercise for me especially since I'm afraid of color.

Daily Face: April Fool's Day

Today is my dad's birthday. No one played a joke on me, not even my youngest daughter Chloe. She could of gotten me good too, because she had her defense today. She is an IBCC student and had to defend her IB portfolio. (IB = International Baccalaureate). She passed. Normally she will send a text saying she failed  only to tell me it was a joke. Her IB Portfolio was a lot of work.

Sketch a Day and Gardening

I read an article that stated that soil has a natural antidepressant called Mycobaterium vaccae. No wonder I feel so good when I'm playing in the dirt. The sketch is from my Sketch- a-day Sketchbook which I stopped using because of  the very cheap paper (it bleeds).
I had my husband to start picking up pallets for me. I am determined to build my green house and start a pallet vegetable garden. I've chosen an area in my yard. I love what Mavis Butterfield of One Hundred Dollars a Month does with pallet gardening. Also I found a cute greenhouse from Apartment Therapy Gardening. Its not too big or too little. And for extra inspiration I posted more flowers from yard and garden.
