The Process of a Painting with Paper 53

This is a portrait of a young lady with beautiful chocolate skin. I just wanted to show what it looks like as I paint on my iPad. I didn't think about it until I had almost finished her face. Next time I hope to show more steps. Click on picture for larger view.

Just Playing Around

I was just playing around with an old illustration I made a while ago. Thought I would add color to it. I don't know if I'm finished with it yet.
It feels good not to think about work for a whole week.

CED: Festive - I'm Dreaming

Here is my submission for the first week of December's Creative Everyday. I'm dreaming of a white Christmas. I know a lot of the northerners are tired of snow, but I miss it. I grew up in New Jersey and lived in Colorado for a while, living in the south leaves me dreaming of snow. It makes everything more festive. However not a blizzard, I've been through that before.

One of my students requested that I do a portrait of her, so did a more detailed portrait instead of one of my quick illustrations. I worked on this for a month.

Not A Work of Art

 I want to create great works of art, but its not flowing from me. I'm not content with what I am creating, but I will post it any way. Maybe I will like it better later.

Making Art with Paper 53 and iPad 2

I've been enjoying my Paper 53 app, I even purchase the Pencil. Although it doesn't connect by bluetooth to my iPad 2 it still works as a stylus. I can also use it with my husbands iPad mini. I didn't have to purchase the painting tools again because they are free if you have the pencil.

How do you paint dreads?

Here's a sketch I did of a student a couple of years ago, I attempted a colored version, but the hair looks like a woman. This student is a boy with dreads, a popular athlete. I really like the pencil drawing.

Creative Everyday - Color Purple

My Purple Boa

For Creative Everyday the word for April is Color. I chose purple. I can count the amount of purple items in my closet on one hand. My favorite purple item is my purple maxi dress that I wear in the summer.
I wanted to capture how beautiful she felt when she put on this purple feathered boa.

My submission for Illustration Friday word of the week - SWIM. The idea is right before the swim. I remember how much fun it was to go to the public pool and swim with my sisters and friends. What I hated more than anything was being pushed in.

When I was growing up converse sneakers were the top of the line sneakers. Everyone wanted to have a pair. It's amazing how yesterday's fad is still current today.

Creative Everyday

Come into the light.
It's been such a long time since I've been able to post anything in Creative Everyday. It saddens me that I've been unable to create. The school district I work for gave us Friday off which did allow me to have some free time to create this. I couldn't capture the light and darkness the way I planned but at least I was able to do something.

I love the photos from lecoil.com. This painting is based on a model I seen on website.

Illustration Friday-New

After I turned 40  I learned something new. I took violin lessons for two years. I had always wanted to learn to play an instrument. I loved learning to play. This illustration commemorates that memory. You never should let yourself get too old to try new things.

I am trying to jump back from my long absence from Illustration Friday. The prompt word was whiskers. I had this old drawing in my sketchbook, so I added color.

I loved reading fairy tales growing up. Here is my modern day version. Red Riding Hood is planning to outfox the wolf.
I really haven't had much time for my art. I miss creating but life just gets too busy.
