No Clothes Buying Failed!

So if you wondered what happened to my No Clothes Buying and Book Buying, they were both a  FAIL. I started buying a top here, a dress there, a good book deal, and I just had to have it for my bookshelf. I have not gone crazy, but I cannot say that I haven't made any purchases. Check out my cute top.

Will You?

An friend of mine wanted some clothes made by a seamstress. She was trying to illustrate what she wanted but was not happy with her drawings, so she asked me to illustrate the clothing for her. This is what I did.

No Clothes Buying Update

I found another wonderful blouse that I would have purchase today. It's navy and white. I wanted to throw in the towel and just buy it but I took a picture instead.
So far it has been 15 days of no buying clothes or books. I seem okay with the books because I have enough unread books to last for a year, but clothes on the other hand is a different story. Why do we never have enough?

No New Clothes 2016

Progress Scale
11 / 365

This is my progress for No New Clothes. It's a little harder than I expected for the first 11 days. Since I can't buy anything so I'll just take a picture of what I wanted to buy. This black and white shirt would have been a nice addition.

Sketchbook Sunday: March 23

Click picture for larger view
I wanted to share what my actual Sunday Journal page. We go to worship service every Sunday and we also attend evening service. Usually the illustration of the woman has on the clothing that I wore that day. My notes are the scripture references from the sermon. The "What's On your Mind" is usually whatever is on my mind before the sermon starts, just to clear my head and focus on worshipping. The Inspiration can be a Bible verse, something from sermon or on this page a song. The ribbon with the tag has our current memory work for Wednesday Night Bible Study, you have to know it because the teacher may call on you to quote it.

My Thrift Store Style

Being the mother of 4 daughters, my sewing machine and the thrift store were staples for clothing my family. Although I no longer have to shop at the thrift store I still do. You can not believe the stuff that people give away. My background with fabrics always helps me identify quality. I just wanted to start sharing my thrift store fashion, also because my blog has been suffering.

Creative Everyday - Color Purple

My Purple Boa

For Creative Everyday the word for April is Color. I chose purple. I can count the amount of purple items in my closet on one hand. My favorite purple item is my purple maxi dress that I wear in the summer.
I wanted to capture how beautiful she felt when she put on this purple feathered boa.

Fashion Friday

I'm beginning to fall in love with clothes again. I love this look. I based this illustration on Orla Kiely.

What To Wear
Although the weekend comes I am not the type to throe on a pair of sneakers. I only wear them when I do my morning run or if we are at an amusement park. Occasionally I will wear my Chuck Taylor Converses but only because they are a bit more stylish than my running sneakers

Inspire Me Thursday: Success, Failure, Courage

Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts

Just A little inspiration to keep focused.

What to Wear
My daughters did not think my ensemble was fashion forward. They said I looked like Little House on the Prairie. Oh well it was comfortable and I felt great. Gray wool dress with splits on the side, cashmere sweater, gray socks that I scrounged down and patent-leather combat boots.

Froggy Chronicles

Two Froggy sisters, so different from each other.

What to Wear

I saw these socks and couldn't resist buying them. I couldn't think why I was so drawn to them. Then later I was thinking they look so yummy, like the Neapolitan ice cream sandwiches I would buy at the corner store. The ice cream was in a square block and they would make it to order and place it in between 2 waffle bread slices. I haven't had one in years. I don't know if they still make them up north where I'm originally from. I've never seen one in the south. I based my outfit of the day on these socks. Pink sweater, brown tank top, beige pants.

WHAT TO WEAR - Sunday

Sunday is the Lord's day, My family and I worship regularly. This outfit is my Sunday's Best. Black jacket from Talbot's, gray Old Navy long skirt, Banana Republic cashmere sweater, black high heel boots, Coach purse, and pearl necklace my husband brought me for Christmas. I don't think people use the phrase Sundays Best anymore.
My grandparents always use this term. It relates back to a time when people didn't have many clothes and their best clothing was saved for Sundays. I also remember having school clothes and play clothes, when my sisters and I would get home from school we would have to change clothes.

CED: WHAT TO WEAR

January 26 outfit. I wore a Hollister white tee with my wide-leg dark blue jeans. I like these jeans because you have to look at them closely to see that they are jeans. Great for work.
That evening we had PTA/Open House at my daughters high school. I put on my dark blue dress with stripes over jeans & tee. Whenever I wear this dress I'm using it as a jacket, most people ask me what is it? To me its whatever I want t to be. That is how fashion goes if you can pull it off. You just have to have confidence when you do your own thing.

CED - New Journal - WHAT TO WEAR?

I've been thinking a lot about my fashion sense, wardrobe, and clothes clutter. Do I have enough in my wardrobe to stay stylish? Do I have too much of everything, because my closets are jammed pack. I decided to start yet another new journal. WHAT TO WEAR - an illustrated journal of what I wore and to where. Hopefully this will help me to stay mindful I what I already have and what I don't need.
This is what I wore January 24. A baby blue wrap cotton shirt that ties in the back. Old Navy crop pants, low heel black boots. I wore this to work and an unscheduled meeting that I was hoping to get at the school board. The meeting didn't happened I was told to come back Wednesday. I did however visit the Lead Nurse she said she loved my boots. I didn't illustrate my bag. I carried this Pelle Wilson Leather Bag. I ran out of time to change it.

Sisters but not Twins

When I was a teenager my younger sister and I looked alike but I was 2 years older. We would dress alike and tell everyone we were twins. We would get such laugh when people believed us.
My daughters hate dressing alike, which was something I could get away with when they were younger but now that they are teens they don't even want to have the same jeans.
